Title: Understanding Koheles
Fee:
$36/Semester
Objective: To explore the intricacies
of King Solomon's Koheles.
The statement "Timing is
everything" is so much more than a cliche. In this course we will explore,
through the brilliant eyes of King Solomon, the concept of timing. We will
accomplish this through a comprehensive study of the third chapter of King
Solomon's Koheles. In this chapter, made famous by the melody of the BIRDS
a "A TIME FOR LOVE", King Solomon examines what he considers
one of humanities greatest resources, time. Location: DJCC Youth Center.
Tuesday evening 7PM
Title: Talmudic analysis
Fee:
$36/Semester
Objective: To develop and enhance our
skills in Talmudic interpretation.
Talmud analysis is only for
advanced Talmudic scholars", is a grave misconception. In this class we
approach analysis not as a subtext to Talmud ,but, as a necessary component of
basic understanding of the text .Therefore, regardless of your educational
background this course will provide an opportunity to contemplate and explore
Talmudic logic. In this course we will investigate the nature of biblical and
rabbinical monetary policy. We will accomplish this through an in depth study
of the second chapter of tractate Bava
Matziah. Location: DJCC Youth Center.
